A simple morning skincare routine that's easy to stick to

Most people don't need a ten-step routine. A morning routine works best when it's short enough to do on a busy day.

1. Cleanse gently

A mild, fragrance-free cleanser, or just lukewarm water if your skin is dry, removes sweat and oil from the night without stripping it.

2. Add a serum if you like

Serums are optional. Many people like a vitamin C or niacinamide serum in the morning. Introduce one product at a time so you can tell how your skin reacts.

3. Moisturize

Pick a texture that suits you: a gel for oily skin, a cream for dry skin. Apply it while your skin is still slightly damp.

4. Finish with sunscreen

Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher is the step dermatologists mention most often. Use about two finger-lengths for your face and neck.
